Bake It Forward

by Grace Boyle on December 30, 2015

With the new year approaching, I wanted to share a wonderful cause #BakeItForward.

Fellow Colorado bloggers, Yvette Marquez-Sharpnack (Muy Bueno Cookbook), Toni Dash (Boulder Locavore) and Erin Sellin (Dinners, Dishes and Desserts) wanted to do something to give back. They prepared cookie recipes special to their own families to give to firefighters to thank them for everything they do. To spread the word and inspire others, they made a video of their experience and are sharing it with the hashtag #BakeItForward.

Additionally, this dovetails into a Food Network campaign which will donate $1 to No Kind Hungry each time someone bakes a treat and shares a photo on social media with the hashtag.

You can see their posts sharing the experience here: Muy Bueno Cookbook’s Mexican Wedding Cookies, Boulder Locavore’s Chocolate Peppermint Dipped Meringues, and Dinners, Dishes & Desserts White Chocolate Fudge.

I hope this video and the season of giving inspires you to bake something and give back. We should never underestimate the power of community and giving. Happy holidays to all!
