Naked Pizza, the healthy pizza franchise that started in New Orleans has made its way to Boulder on 28th street.
This town is pizza-crazy. There are also, varying levels of pizza. Naked Pizza has wedged itself into the market as a more on-the-go or delivery option, which doesn’t interfere with the likes of Pizzeria da Lupo, Pizzeria Basta or Pizzeria Locale (my three favorite dine-in pizza spots in Boulder). It’s important to note, they aren’t trying to be gourmet pizza at a high price point. It’s set for delivery and in that market, they win out more over the likes of Dominos or Pizza Hut (fast food pizza, delivery).
Naked means natural:
Their philosophy is simple and their mission is clear. The founder of Naked Pizza has a daughter with diabetes and he realized she couldn’t eat at the fun fast-food options, so he created Naked Pizza.
We’re pretty clear about our responsibility as a business. So we make a delicious, honest pizza with no freaky chemicals, based on the latest nutritional science. Then deliver it lickety split.
The small Boulder shop is bright and vibrant. With under 20 chairs for seating, while you’re waiting for your pizza, they have iPads along the wall and an interactive video about the history of Naked Pizza, the Founder and what they strive to do with healthier ingredients for take out.
A group of some of my favorite foodie-sleuths wanted to learn more about Naked Pizza, so we scoped out the Boulder shop and we were sure to try all their pizza varieties. It was GOOD! I really enjoyed that the pizza didn’t feel heavy and there’s a lot of ways to customize your pizza pie.
Naked Pizza has a whole page dedicated to their nutritional information. Their dough has more than 10 seeds and grains and is fortified with probiotics and agave fiber. They offer a gluten-free crust and have plenty of vegetarian options, as well.
I like the option to build your own and it’s completely customizable or you can pick one of their fun menu combinations like one of my favorites the superbiotic – artichokes, spinach, bell pepper, mushroom, garlic, red onion and cilantro.
I learned at the Boulder Naked Pizza store they have a small time limit in which to make the pizza (so it’s fresh), get it in the oven and have it delivered to you in under 25 minutes. Pizza will still be piping hot.
That said, Naked Pizza is your healthier alternative to take out and delivery pizza and for that option, I would say they’re the best in Boulder for just that.
You can find the Boulder location at 1629 28th Street.
