Outrageous Baking

For January, I’ve gone gluten-free. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but don’t consider myself as someone who “limits” especially when it comes to food. Food is such a big part of my life. Alas, I want to test how my body feels and on day 8 I feel great.

Part of my plight in gluten-free is learning about great brands that support gluten-free. When they’re local, it’s even better.

Outrageous Baking here in Boulder, Colorado is run by Pamela Fletcher who started the company because her daughter, Grace, had eczema as a baby and their mission was to focus on healthy, whole foods in place of medical intervention as a solution. Hence, came the success of Outrageous Baking because of it’s deliciousness.

I recently had a chance to try many of Pamela’s gluten-free sweet breads such as: chocolate zucchini bread, lemon poppy seed bread, pumpkin bread and cinnamon coffee cake. I really liked how they tasted and each flavor was so strong and enticing. My favorite was the cinnamon coffee cake with the crumble on top. I even shared with non gluten-free friends and the breads were devoured.

I also tried her gluten-free baking mix to do some baking in my kitchen. She blends: Brown Rice Flour, Tapioca Flour, Potato Starch, Sorghum Flour and Xantham Gum.

I made chocolate chip cookies with her flour, as well. They came out heartier than I expected but yummy. I’m perfecting my recipe, especially at altitude.
