This post is part of the ongoing series: Local Loves where I feature a local food company or product. Giving is living, baby.
In 2004, Rush-Naturally Enlightened landed in the middle of CU Boulder’s campus Hill neighborhood. They started by serving all-natural smoothies and blended fruit bowls. True to Boulder, students flocked to Rush’s healthy and fuel-filling alternative to campus food.
I recently had a chance to visit their new(er) and second location in North Boulder on Broadway to sample these epic Rush bowls that have grown in such popularity here in Boulder. I met with Nicole Shapiro, they gregarious and fun Vice President who truly walks the talk, as one of the original employees at Rush On the Hill.
Check out what they’ve got going on.
Graham Berry: blackberry, blueberry, graham cracker crumble, fat-free frozen yogurt, vanilla soy or fat-free milk. topped with graham crackers & honey.
Peanut Butter & Jelly: banana, strawberry, peanut butter, fat-free frozen yogurt, vanilla soy or fat-free milk. topped with fat-free granola, jelly & peanut butter.
These bowls are hearty, filling and completely stand as a meal. Look at the gooey, peanut butter goodness!
Rush Bowls also launched their grab-n-go bowls which are packaged (looks like ice cream pint) with the granola separate and great to bring on a hike, for families or even on a road-trip.
These bowls started in 2009 and grew rapidly into Whole Foods!
They co-pack their wholesale line here in Boulder and of course, their two storefronts in North Boulder and on The Hill where their bowls are produced from scratch. They even have gluten-free and vegan bowl options and many of their ingredients are certified organic. The bowls do not have artificial sweeteners or sugars and they strive to focus on a wholesome meal, combined with fresh fruit, protein and fiber.
I’m a fan. Have you eaten at Rush or grabbed their to-go bowls? Let me know which your favorites are and stop by a store.
